All-wheel drive performance vehicles have slowly become very popular due to them being beneficial as compared to front-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive. As all-wheel-drive technology has advanced more and more people prefer having traction applied to all wheels for the best stability when it comes to extreme climates. Here is our list of great all-wheel-drive performance vehicles under 10k.
01-05 Subaru Impreza WRX
Arguably the best-looking generation the Subaru Impreza 227hp, 24/28mpg, and AWD makes this one of the best choices for a great all-around car. Built around Subaru’s rally legacy the aftermarket support is great for these vehicles and the All-Wheel drive system is loved by people with harsh winters and makes this the vehicle most choose when needing an all-wheel-drive vehicle. Blowing head gaskets are common if you end up modifying these cars, but if you leave these cars unmodified and take care of it Subaru is one of the longest-lasting vehicles on the market today. There’s a reason Subaru has slowly become one of the most popular manufactures.
Volkswagon Golf R32
When I first got into the MK4 and MK5 Golf R32 the first thing I noticed was the build quality of the interior. I have been In a lot of sports cars and I will tell you since the first R32 was released in 2002 that the seats are still some of the best looking in the market. My only complaint is it may be too stiff and not wide enough for larger people. With the VW R32, both generations come with one of the best sounding engines on the market with the VR6 motor 237 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque are available for the MK4 or if you get the MK5 you get an Increased 250hp. The options for the time are plentiful and include heated leather sport seats, dual-zone climate control, Sirius Satellite Radio, glass moonroof, cool “F1” paddle shifters, optional navigation.
2006 Audi S4
The Audi S4 only delivers 15mpg in the city and 21mpg on the highway and that’s my only complaint, but when you have a massive 4.2 liter v8 under the hood that produces 340 horsepower and an all-wheel-drive Quattro system to help deliver the power evenly is a match made in heaven. At nearly a 50k MSRP and now with the ability to purchase one under 10k you surly get pampered with a luxurious interior that competes with BMW and Mercedes. With a plethora of features such as a sunroof, heated front seats, auto-dimming mirrors inside and out; memory functions for seats and outside mirrors; a light and rain-sensing system that turns on the headlights and adjusts intermittent wiper frequency, adaptive headlights, and even an Sd card reader to easily carry your tunes with you the Audi S4 is a fantastic all-wheel-drive buy for under 10k
The Volvo S60R just looks like a typical sedan, but after you get behind the wheel you will quickly realize that it’s more than a family car as it has a turbocharged 2.5-liter inline-5 engine with an option 6-speed manual transmission or 5-speed automatic. Volvo engineered an amazing machine that you can daily drive, but if you need to have some fun and do some spirited driving you can change the whole characteristics of the car with the press of a button. The S60R is equipped with three buttons to give you quick adjustments over the feel of the vehicle which can be great for times you may want to have a relaxing drive, but having the option the stiffen the vehicle up and enjoy some twisties while you are out making this a great well-balanced machine.
